Samantha Hargreaves is a 15-year-old powerhouse hailing from Calgary, Alberta. This Argonette took on cycling in 2011. Five years later, she boasts a tremendous palmares. If you haven’t heard of her yet, we bet it’s going to happen soon.
Here’s an inside look at this rising star of Canadian cycling.
In April 2016 Samantha – then only 14 years old – was selected by team Alberta for the U17 track national championships, which she rode on her Electron. She then started her road season on her Gallium, starting in Category 5 at the beginning of the season and climbing her way up to Category 3 at the end of the season.
Samantha was also selected to the Alberta Summer Games in mountain biking and took 2 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal at the games. Meanwhile the track season progressed, and she won 2 track races as well.
A Sweeping Season
Samantha favours track cycling best, where she excels in sprint races. On the road, she excels in criteriums and time trials. Here are the provincial U17 titles that Samantha was able to capture this season:

“Knowing that I have a good bike underneath me and knowing I can rely on it makes me feel more confident and secure,” says Samantha. “I love my Electron and my Gallium, and both bikes are light and fast.”
Samantha’s next goals are to make it to the Western Canada Junior Championships and track cycling National Championships. As for the road, she’s hoping to make it to the National Championships. She aims to achieve both objectives in Alberta’s provincial team.
