2015-06-30

It was a successful weekend for athletes representing the colors of Argon 18 at various National Championships. Here is an overview of this sweep, one week before the start of the Tour de France.

Emanuel Buchmann New German Champion

Emanuel Buchmann of the German pro team BORA - Argon 18 has surprisingly won the German championships in road cycling. After 205 kilometers, the 22-year-old sat won with an attack in the finale. For Buchmann, who is riding his first season in the pro ranks, today’s success is also his first professional win. Only on Tuesday Buchmann was appointed to the line-up of his team for the Tour de France. Thus, the new German champion jersey will premiere right at the biggest cycling race in the world starting next weekend.

Jan Bárta wins the Czech ITT championships

Jan Bárta won the Czech national champion title in the individual time trial for the fourth time in a row. The race ran over 38.6km and was held in the Slovak city of Zilina, where Slovakia and the Czech Republic traditionally held their national championships together. With an average speed of 49.41 km/h and a time of 46:42 minutes, he relegated his former teammate Leopold König to the second place with a lead of 44 seconds. The 30-year-old Czech was appointed this week in the BORA – Argon 18 squad for the Tour de France. Before the Grand Depart in Utrecht, he participated at the road championships on Sunday.
