At IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant
Maverick Multisport’s Pro Triathletes and Argonettes Laurel Wassner and Jessica Jones earned 2nd and 3rd places respectively on Sunday at IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant. Both Americans soldiered all day and never quit.
As the gun sounded to begin the swim for the pro women, Amanda Stevens took the lead clocking a 58:38 swim. She was the only one to come in under the one-hour mark. Mary Beth Ellis was second in 1:00:59 followed by Laurel Wassner almost three minutes further back in third.
Mary Beth Ellis took command on the bike course and just over halfway of the 180km distance her lead was over eight minutes. At the halfway mark of the run Ellis had built her lead to almost 12 minutes on Laurel Wassner, in 2nd place.
Amanda Wendorff was holding down 3rd place but Jessica Jones managed to bravely fight it out for the final spot on the podium.
